Murphy SR3500

August 1, 2009

In this small aircraft kit manufacturer, I also had a job duty of maintaining the assembly manuals. Usually, an assembly manual of a kit aircraft includes a lot of exploded views. To draw 2-D exploded views, I built 3-D solid models of all parts in the view. When the total number of solid model parts becomes larger, I thought up this crazy idea of building the whole aircraft with 3-D parts.

The total number of solid models excluding the engine in this screen shot is about 1200 and among them about 300 are unique (non-duplicated) parts. I built all fasteners (bolts and nuts, etc.) too from scratch. Lycoming kindly provided me a 3-D model of an engine (only outline of sillouette).
